OUR BELIEFS

We are a
Southern Baptist Church

THE BIBLE

The Holy Bible was written by men inspired by God and is God's revelation of Himself to man. The Bible is the complete and perfect Word of God and is the source of truth for Christian life and belief. Since the Bible was inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

GOD

There is only one true, living sovereign, holy, and eternally existent God. He has eternally existed in three personalities and is revealed in the Bible as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God, all possessing the same nature, perfection, and attributes. The triune God is the creator and sustainer of all things, the source of all truth.

GOD THE SON

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He was buried, bodily resurrected, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return one day to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

GOD THE SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need of Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit enables men to understand the truth of the Gospel. He exalts Christ. He convicts of sin, righteousness, and of judgment. He provides the Christian with the power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.

MAN

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. God created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. By man’s free choice, he sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. This sin separates man from God and only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

SALVATION

Salvation is a free gift of grace from God that is offered to us through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. This gift of grace is received through trusting Jesus Christ as Savior and accepting by faith the forgiveness offered to us through His work on the cross. There is nothing an individual contributes to his salvation except to receive by faith the gift of salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the works of man, thereby assuring us that we cannot lose our salvation.

BAPTISM & THE LORD'S SUPPER

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water and is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith. Baptism does not bring salvation but symbolizes the meaning of salvation. It is a picture of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believers faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believers death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of Jesus, our Redeemer, and anticipate His return.

THE FAMILY

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.

Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people.
